Michael Bondanza

Michael Bondanza

Michael Bondanza’s vibrant collection of engagement rings represent a love story with New York City, yet his lineage reaches back to Italy. Michael comes from a family of sculptors and artisans. He began his career in jewelry design in 1976 in NYC, and what started as a hobby of making jewelry for friends soon caught the attention of Manhattan’s best jewelry shops. Michael Bondanza's work in platinum was unique, and he manipulated the rare, fine metal in never-before-seen ways.

Michael Bondanza’s innovative, yet classic designs, reflect the brilliant architecture of NYC, and in fact, each engagement ring and wedding band he creates is named for an NYC area. For example, Gramercy; of Gramercy Park, Nolita; North of Little Italy, Plaza; of the historic luxury hotel and Madison, of the famous Manhattan Avenue. Each neighborhood or icon is chosen carefully for its stylishness and beauty. Michael Bondanza renders each ring in his signature platinum and always uses natural, responsibly sourced diamonds. Some of Michael Bondanza’s inspirations are the Art Deco movement, the work of French designers Rene Lalique and Georg Jensen, and early work by Cartier. Michael Bondanza’s hand-crafted engagement rings are delicate and bold at the same time, offering an ode to modern brides.

In addition to wedding jewelry, Michael Bondanza is known for intriguing coin pendant designs that blend old and new. Featuring coins from tens or hundreds of years ago and from around the world, Michael Bondanza’s coin pendants help history come alive. Their gorgeous patina perfectly contrasts against hand-crafted and elegant 18k gold bezels and chains. Of course, they are mounted so that each side of the coin can be seen and enjoyed. If you have a special coin we can work with Michael to create your own one of a kind pendants.
