Snake Vase
An exotic contribution to the Herend oeuvre, a slithering, sensual snake twists and turns wrapping itself around a vase. The contrast between the vibrant colors and the white background lends such authenticity to this piece that heart rates may rise.
Angel with Dove
A subdued palette of gold and white creates an ethereal, quiet composition on this regal Angel with Dove. And yet, the folds of the skirt belie the stillness of the figurine by alluding to imminent movement and purpose as perhaps her arms reach to the heavens to release the dove.
Tesserae Tortoise
Taking its name from the small pieces of stone, glass or ceramic used in mosaics, thirty-eight different Herend patterns create a mosaic-like composition on the tortoise's shell. A crossroads of east meets west and past & present: four chinoiserie patterns anchor the center stripe of the turtle's back while flanking the center tile featuring the S vres Petites Roses pattern which takes inspiration from French artistry.
Starfish
The starfish's allure does not usually come from its tough armor of calcium carbonate but the talented artists at Herend have used it as inspiration to create a shimmering figurine. By combining the nubby texture with beautiful fishnet colors from all depths of the aquatic realm, highlighted with touches of pink and bold accents of gold, the effect created is one of a twinkling starfish closely resembling his brethren in the sky.
Dragon Cachepot
Both an homage to Chinese dynasties of yore and a thoroughly modern composition, this vibrant dragon cachepot skillfully reconciles both perspectives to create a powerful statement piece. Undulating through a dense thicket, the dragon's path remains unimpeded as the flora yields to his presence for the legend of the dragon has been passed down for generations and heralded his power long before his shadow is seen.
Scallop Shell
Sometimes looking to the past creates a masterpiece for the present and the Art Nouveau period was clearly the inspiration for this lovely scallop shell. With its flowing, organic lines and intricate details, the scallop could be plucked from the manufactory's catalog from the late 19th century. And yet, this is a new entree in Herend's library with an intriguing upright design and a dual-sided decoration that captivates from every angle.
Tang Horse
War horses were the pride of the Tang (AD 618-907), a dynasty of prosperity, military expansion and artistic achievement. Tang emperors were known for their openness to new ideas about art, religion, philosophy and music, unlike most Chinese dynasties which tried to cut off their empire from outside influences. Since the horse was so revered culturally, it was often the subject of artistic endeavors during this time.
Flamingo Duet
While it may not be the flamenco, Herend's Flamingo Duet presents 2 flamingos in a dance of their own creation. It also features the world-wide debut of a new symphony of fishnet colors in light orange, raspberry and rust. While flamingos don't eat carrots, it is the beta carotene found in their food supply that imparts them with such beautiful pigmentation. Ranging from light pink to bright red, the more colorful the flamingo, the more attractive he is to the opposite sex.
