Although many gem-quality diamonds appear colorless or white to the untrained eye, there are subtle differences that become apparent to a trained professional. Color in a diamond results from traces of elements that mixed with pure carbon millions of years ago during the diamond's formation. The most common element mixed with diamond is nitrogen, which gives a hint of yellow. Diamonds with no traces of body color (colorless) are truly rare.
Lux Bond & Green diamonds are color graded in our Gem Laboratories which have been accredited by the American Gem Society (AGS) by trained gemologists. In addition, most of our larger diamonds over .75 carat have been color graded by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and are accompanied by a GIA diamond report. Lux Bond & Green also offers natural "fancy" color diamonds such as fancy yellow (canary), pink, blue, chocolate, black and cognac.
