Although
most gem-quality loose diamonds appear colorless to the untrained eye,
there are subtle differences in shade that become apparent to a trained
professional.
Color
in a diamond results from traces of elements that mixed with pure carbon
millions of years ago during the diamond's formation. The most common
element mixed with diamond is nitrogen, which gives a hint of yellow.
Diamonds with no traces of body color are truly rare.

Our diamonds
are color graded in our Gem Laboratory which has been accredited by the
American Gem Society (AGS) and uses a special diamond light developed
for color grading. In addition, some have been color graded by the Gemological
Institute of America (GIA).
Lux Bond
& Green also offers natural "fancy" color diamonds such
as fancy yellow (canary), pink, blue, and cognac.
